I like the tabs and the mouseovers. I'm looking forward to the version upgrade too.
Should the times of stories shown under their titles include the time zone?

I wouldn't mind military time either.

Four stars.
This song is very dynamic and has a lot of elements.
The strongest points are the intro and the the bass or baritone guitar at the end, a very nice touch.
The use of restraint without launching into an extended Dragonforce or Joe Satriani showoff solo was a good move. The prudent use of double bass on the drums was good as lesser bands would over do the double bass drum beat.
The background vocals added a good touch as I thought the lead singer was a little weak, thus my overall rating being 4 stars instead of 5.

I bet one of you out there has this in a .sit or .hqx file??? HAHA But seriously, I would like to get these sounds for my MacBook or my phone. I don't think I still have RedEdit on my old iMac or I'd get them myself... suppose I'm lazy.
Example:
Logjam
Chewtoy
Simplebeep
Temple
I'd thank you a million times.
Even System 7.1 sounds that I might be missing???

The original graph on Fortune (link is in article) also had a graph that didn't look right. But the accompanying spreadsheets made it clear that it's supposed to be thousands of units, millions of dollars.

Hey all,
Just recently purchased a 15 gig iPod, and noticed that in the instructions it says that the computer needs to not be asleep for the iPod to charge. I own a powerbook 12" and when I have my computer asleep and iPod connected the iPod appears to actually charge. My question is, is the iPod actually charging at the same rate as it would if the computer was awake? Is it charging at all? And does the AC adapter charge at a higher/faster rate than through firewire, is it better to charge from AC when possible?
Thanks :)

people will pay good money for good sh**! I do. My jcrew giant fit chinos cost $65.00 a pair now. Up from $59.50. But they are well made with an awesome fit. Same for my new balance 1223s. ...

You are going to be so disappointed when they announce the phone and you realize that they just released a phone. Yes, the phone is designed by Apple and has a nice UI, maybe one somewhat unique feature, but you're essentially going to be getting a fairly regular phone with a feature that most people would never use often.
The basis of the "iPhone" rumour is that Apple would release something that is just a phone integrated with an iPod. This has generated excitement because many Apple enthusiasts would like to see Apple's energies directed at this. People will exaggerate their RAZR's flaws in the believe that Apple can fix anything.
It is not based upon the idea that it is actually a good idea for Apple to do this, and right now Apple doing this would prevent them from licensing iTunes in future and thus consign the iTS to oblivion as the minority provider of online music. No device that competes with mainstream Motorola or Nokia products is ever likely to leave the Apple design studios.
So anyone expecting a "regular phone" (with or without a built-in iPod and/or camera) from Apple is more likely to be disappointed than someone expecting something groundbreaking that happens to incorporate mobile phone technology.

Here is a friend's site. She used paypal to set up her online store. Seems to work well for what she (and you) need.
-Nothing to purchase.
-Does take you to another site, but allows you to return to shop easily.
-Very easy to code yourself and customize how ever you want.
Check out her site if you want...

I didn't say I supported AllofMP3's way to do their shady business, I meant that legal downloading should be modelled like AllofMP3 AND that the artists should get paid.
If only we live in the perfect world, every business is out there for it's own interest - Jon, Record Company and AllofMP3 included. time to wake up and smell the coffee guys!

Apple sold nearly 5 million iPads last quarter... now this sounds good to me, why are the media reporting this as "disappointing." Am I missing something here? Surely this should be at least "pretty good."

The simple answer is dont use photoshop Im afraid! It does a really poor job of consistent spacing and cornering.
You'd be far better using illustrator for this, or InDesign/QuarkXPress will manage clean and precise dotted/dashed lines too.
If you don't have access to those, and you must use PS, the only options you have is to play with the spacing under "Brush Tip Shape" in the big Brushes Palette, and you could also tweak the Angle Jitter setting under Shape Dynamics.
"Direction" will cause the orientation of the brushtip shape to follow the direction of the line you'rre drawing or the path you're stroking.
Good luck!

Microsoft has claimed that to port VirtualPC to Intel would be much like making VirtualPC 1.0 all over again.
That sounds like a load of rubbish to me. They have VirtualPC for PC, so the actual "virtualisation" part could be taken from there. They also know how to use the various hooks in MacOSX, because that's what VPC7 for mac uses.
Which is not to say that it would be an easy task, but let's say that 50% of the work was already done. This seems like a reasonable estimate to me, and would be backed up by the time it has taken VMWare to create their Intel Mac version of their PC software....
I'm not normally one for conspiracy theory, but with Microsoft dropping WMP, IE, VirtualPC, and reducing 100% support for Office on the Mac, all in the last 12 months, I would suggest that Redmond is starting to get a little worried about Apple for the first time since the 1980s

You'd be in for shock if you visited the App store. Especially when it comes to the iPad.
The only shock that would be of interest is one that provides tactile feedback. Moving characters around with virtual joystick = no joy. My iPads are good for a lot of things, gaming is just hohum, more like a sub species.;)

I never said he was working on an second exploit. His 4.3 Tethered is all I mentioned. They are working on it, and MuscleNerd even said today they are working on making it legal to distribute. 4.3.1 for iPad 2 as this time is probally in the back burner. All that is really needed is for the iPad 2 4.3 to publicly Jailbroken. If someone updated to 4.3.1 thats their fault. If someone updated to 4.3.1 they are obviously new to the game.
Yes, that is the same status comex's exploit has been in for the past three weeks. Right now muscle nerd and the dev team are finishing the 4.3.1 untethered for all devices but the iPad 2. Like I said, I'm not saying they aren't working on it currently or that it won't come out, but right now the 4.3 exploit is exactly that, just an exploit as it has been for the past three weeks. Its not packaged, its not in beta, it's not ready for distribution, there is no eta.
Joshua and green poison have confirmed they are working on the iPad 2 jb and finishing up an a5 compatible jb. And yes, if you updated to 4.3.1 that is your fault, but I don't know why you are telling anyone on this forum as its doubtful that anyone who knows about jbing would have updated.
And to the poster that asked, I hear 4.3.1 is shipping out on new units.

My university's tech department uses several of THESE (http://www.newertech.com/products/charger_cond.php) to charge their library loaner Macbook batteries between checkouts. I asked them about it once as I was having the need to keep two batteries charged. Said that it helps with conditioning as well.
Thanks, that looks really interesting.

I thought that this thread is about ACDs and I believe that they are primarily used other than watching broadcast tv.
There are already displays with xvYCC and it's gamut is so big that 8-bit colors will show banding. 8-bits are enough for ntsc gamut, but not bigger.
Next versions of bd / hd-dvd specs will include xvYCC and h.264 broadcasts will probably use xvYCC also in the future.
ACDs are also used a lot in professional video post production and there is need for more than 8-bit colors. Also high quality photography needs more than 8-bits. All DSLRs have had deeper color depth than 8-bits from day one.
8-bits is enough when display's real contrast ratio is about 300:1, but when we already have displays that have contrast ratio way beyond that, there is banding on a carefully profiled display. 256 brightness levels just isn't enough. That's why sdi has had 10-bits for a decade.
So there really is need for more than 8-bits with displayport or any other way. Even average consumers will notice that within a lifetime of a new ACD.
When I buy expensive high quality devices like displays, I want them to be high quality at least half of their life, not just now.
It would also be nice if the new displays would be TCO 06 compliant. The current displays are only TCO 03 compliant.
