A FELONYhas been committed. Who cares about the company involved or anything else. We live in a country that has the rule of law, and it allows for someone (or a company) to file a complaint with their local police department
Sorry, mate, but I think you're missing the point.
For a company like Apple losing a prototype and it ending up in the hands of a tech blogger months before its release was probably a big blow. But that damage is now done, nothing more they can do about that. The only thing they get to decide is how to handle the matter now with respect to the felony (probably) committed by the finder and Gizmodo. Are their interests best served by getting the police to bash down this guy's door and confiscate the tools of his trade? Apple is a corporation owned by its shareholders and upheld by passionate customers who buy things at a premium because they feel good about them and the company that makes them. It doesn't get to throw a tantrum. It has an image to consider. What's to be gained by tearing up this blogger? A deterrent for similar cases in the future? Give me a break. The next guy who gets his hands on a prototype will just be a bit more careful not to show his face in the video and claim it was sent to him by an anonymous source. That's all.
So, yes, it was a felony. But it still lacked style and class to go after the felon like that. And style and class is what Apple is all about.

Since there's no protrusion, this qualifies as a misnomer.
I don't know about anyone else, but at the 1 min mark where the "targets" are being shown, they definitely look like they are protruding/jumping off the screen. I certainly don't have any experience or knowledge of this technology, but as far as I am concerned that is 3D.

A significant amount of the news on this site (arguably, the most interesting news) is a result of the leaking of trade secrets.
So what's our view? "Give us all the interesting info, then arrest the people who leaked it to us!" ? Doesn't that seem a tiny bit... hypocritical?

I think the anti-phishing stuff is great, but I don't like the way they word it. People who are not very familiar with the internet might get the fishing warning from a "paypal" link and think that it is saying Paypal is a fraudulent site, whereas it is actually saying "this site isn't really paypal."

I better take care of my ol' shuffle, since when it dies I have to buy a iPod and a USB memory. Not what I call evolution...
Hardly a problem. You can get a new shuffle and a 1 gig USB jump drive for alot less then the old 1 gig shuffle cost.

When you preordered the iPhone from Best Buy did they check your AT&T account first to see if you qualify?
I don't specifically recall, but I don't think they checked my account first to see if I qualified; the sales rep did ask me if I was buying the phone with a new plan or if it was an upgrade. Since I had checked the AT&T site the other day, I already knew that I did qualify.

3D audio cues? How would you get anything above 1D audio cues?
Dolby Digital Surround. If you just have a R/L channel.... its only 1 D. But since Dolby has 5.... 2 back... 3 forward... with the center forward and i different height.... u can get almost 3D sound. I think its a really cool features that dissapointingly won't get taken advantage of enough. Some programs should definetly utilize that. It would be great for a simple maze game where like as ur mouse moves u hear where its going. It'd really be cool beans.

The Apple/Tmobile partnership is interesting. I thought that Apple and Cingular had a deal but I guess not my T-mobile phone that I use in Europe had itunes on it and I know quite a few people that use itunes on T-mobile serviced phones. I have itunes running on my V360 and have about 800 songs on my transflash card(just for your info, if it's not already on your phone)

Yawn.
Wake me up when it supports Exchange 2003 just like all of their Windows versions.
Que the one MS fanboy who will say it's old tech and Microsoft will never support it.
Guess the team that works on Office 2010 for the PC never got that memo since that works like a dream with Exchange 2003.
Or, you could be like the Office for Mac team and happily keep your head in the sand.
+1
Why can my Apple iPhone 4.3.1 work perfectly with our company Exchange 2003 server - but my Microsoft Outlook 2011 can't?
Microsoft pisses me of sometimes.
I buy Office 2011 for my Mac and it doesn't work with my company exchange server. Microsoft says upgrade the exchange server. My company says buy a PC, Outlook 2010 on the PC works just fine with their Exchange server.
So if MS is supposedly ditching whatever they use for OutlookPC->Exchange2003 connectivity then fine. Why can't MS do what the iPhone and iPad do to talk to Exchange2003?
What can I use on my Mac to hook up to Exchange 2003 so that I don't have to use a PC?

Nope. No C2D in the MacBook until 2007. Why? Distinguish product lines between MB vs. MBP with different chips. Also economics. With only CD in MacBooks, Apple makes more $$$ per MB.
Sorry, I don't think you're always right. While everyone here may outbuy MBP's vs MB's, the mass market buys Macbooks much more than MBP's (according to a recent article, MB outsold MBP 2:1). The MB is very important for apple and will allow them to gain huge marketshare in the notebook market if they keep it up-to-date. A lot of financial success of apple last quarter was due to laptop sales (of which were mostly macbooks) to college kids. So, if apple is smart and wants to experience high portable sales during the holidays, they will have to update the macbooks...after all, they are in a MUCH better price range in terms of gifting than the MBP's and would make more likely gifts. The C2D is similar in costs to C1D now that C1D is getting replaced, thus the price of the MB would not change much with this upgrade.
I am thinking in terms of what is most financially profitable for apple-and my conclusion in that line of thought is updating the Macbooks to C2D within 3 weeks.

geekbench score for the 2.3 dual core is 2082
geekbench score for the 2.5 quad is 3304
and you can get a quad , but you need to make one thing absolute sure , that it does not come with the delphi pumps , apple did change the supplier basically right at the end before discontinuing the G5 , the later ones are i think from panasonic , but that needs confirmation and those are much more reliable , still did not help them ,despite apple still sold quiet a few to its victims aeh customers who believed apple a couple month earlier, as apple told everybody how superior the G5 is and then going intel
Ok, I saw plenty of them on ebay.. in all shapes and sizes(conditions), how do I ask this question to a potential seller? the most I would pay for a G5 Quad, considering I have a PB G4 1.67, 2010 Mac Pro, Pismo G4, and Gateway P-6860fx would be around 4-600 dollars.. no more, no less..
Then I would need an adapter to get the LED cinema display to work with the DVI.

I think you can easily make $70-$90/month by flipping burger....
I think he meant some one trying to make a living on a "Burger King" wage could afford that.
You do realize that when you are making a living you have to for a roof over your head, food, heating, transportation to and from work (at least if not to the grocery store too) all of which are more important than a cellphone plan (nevermind a smartphone plan which really is a luxury).
Sure, if that's the only thing they have to pay for they can easily afford the smartphone plan. I know I couldn't afford it if I wasn't splitting it with my roommate (family plan with lowest minutes, extra line, his company gets him a discount for being an employee with them, no texting). Even then with the hours I'm getting I'd probably be better off not having it (I just got so addicted and I'm not quite at that point yet).

3D audio cues? How would you get anything above 1D audio cues?
Stereo speakers. Most of use can tell if a sound is in front of us or behind or above or below and we only have two ears. You can make 3D recording with ony two channles but the playback geometry has to be near perfect. Synthetic sound cues are not recordings and it need not be perfect to work. All it would have to convey is any one of six basic directions and the users will all be trained to listen for it carfully and wiling to set up the speakers in exact locations. It might be helpfull to someone who is blind. I know some one who is and he can sometimes tell who enters a room and from where before the person speaks. If this is the target user then it need not be perfect or even natural sounding

I think we can all agree that Nokia's meat and potatoes has been in dumb phones. They are present in the smart phone market, but this merger if you will with Windows is going to be their attempt to really recreate themselves in a market they were not very successful in.
I don't think we can agree that. Nokia practically invented the smartphone with the Communicator line starting in 1996. Between Symbian and the Communicators, not sure how you can make that statement.

Does this also apply to the late 2008/early 2009 white macbook? Or am I still limited to 4GB?
Edit: Nevermind. Reread again saw that the article stated alum Macbooks. I guess I just got a little excited there. At first glance, thought the artice was talking about all Macbooks in general...
